The LaSalle County Board’s Finance budget meeting on September 29, 2026, included an update on closing out ARPA funding. Of 154 original contracts, four or five remained active, and staff estimated roughly $700,000 would remain, subject to final bills and recipient spending. The county expects to use eligible remaining funds for Sheriff’s Office school resource officer payroll, including a possible transfer of about $80,000 from a nursing-home allocation; staff will continue reporting and reconciling expenditures ahead of the December closeout and potential audit. Remaining allocations discussed included $2,000 for a Wallace Fire District radio, up to $25,000 for the Ottawa YMCA swim program, $40,770 for the City of LaSalle, and $952 for the University of Illinois. No contract awards or spending motions were recorded.

Department budgets were also reviewed. Parks staff discussed site improvements, including concrete and electricity for shelters at Catlin, gravel parking areas at Shabbona, and monument restoration; the committee requested a written, prioritized breakdown with cost options before proceeding. Other budget topics included public defender staffing and operating costs, health department levy reductions and expenses, and a planned move to online health-benefits enrollment using a broker-provided portal at no charge. A $100,000 tourism grant was reported. The transcript records no procurement approvals or votes; the motion and vote at the end were to adjourn.
