The Milford Board of Education Committee of the Whole met September 28, 2026. Members unanimously appointed Laura Fusy to fill an unexpired board term. Administrators introduced the district’s new school security officers, described their training and school assignments, and noted that the district had invested in the program; no cost, contract award, or procurement vote was stated. The board also received an annual student assessment update, with discussion focused on achievement, growth, curriculum, and instructional priorities.
Administrators presented preliminary priorities and assumptions for the 2027–28 budget, to be revised with board feedback before consideration at a later meeting. The current budget allocates about 77% to salaries and benefits; forecasts included a 5–10% increase in health-care premiums and 10–20% increases in special-education placement and transportation costs and contracted building maintenance. Potential budget priorities included curriculum development, expanded career and concurrent-enrollment opportunities, student supports, a long-range musical-instrument replacement plan, facilities planning, and replacing teacher laptops and student Chromebooks. These were planning assumptions rather than approved purchases or allocations. The board reviewed draft policies on student work-study and educational opportunities for military children; both are to return for further consideration, with no policy adoption vote recorded. No contract award or specific purchasing approval was identified.
