The City of Boise Historic Preservation Commission held a public meeting on September 28, 2026, to review several agenda items related to historic preservation and development within local historic districts. Key procurement-related discussions included two certificate of appropriateness applications: one for demolishing a non-contributing home and constructing two detached single-family homes with ADUs at 1420 Bannock Street, which was approved with conditions; and another for demolishing a non-contributing home and constructing a new single-family home at 308 West Rescue Street, which was initially recommended for denial but ultimately approved with conditions to reduce building height and adjust garage setback. The commission also reviewed and approved a comprehensive plan amendment to adopt an updated historic preservation plan, which included goals for city planning, stewardship, incentives, and public outreach. Public testimony highlighted concerns about design compatibility and historic district boundaries, as well as a request to recognize the historic Eustig townsite in West Boise. Motions were passed to approve the development projects with conditions and to recommend the updated preservation plan to city council for final approval.
