The Racine County Finance and Human Resources Committee met on September 30, 2026. The committee approved the treasurer’s recommendations for bids on tax-foreclosed properties: 56 bids were received on 16 of 25 parcels, while nine parcels received no bids. The recommended high bids would produce approximately $1.8 million in total sales. Examples included a $165,000 high bid for 1817 Clayton Avenue and a $495,200 bid for 2208 Rine Street. The committee also discussed the appraisal process and noted that the next foreclosure sale is expected after properties are secured and appraised in 2027.

The committee voted to forward a proposed online auction plan for surplus property from the Dominic Drive behavioral health building to the County Board for first and second readings on October 6. Staff proposed using GovDeals, with buyers responsible for removing purchased items; county approval of the auction plan is required under the cited ordinance. The committee also forwarded the county sales-tax update and selected claims against budgeted accounts, including a fuel purchase of nearly 6,000 gallons for county vehicle fuel tanks. No budget allocations or new service contracts were approved at this meeting.
