The City of Gilroy Planning Commission met on October 1, 2026. The primary item was a proposed zoning-code amendment addressing commercial and industrial noise affecting residentially zoned properties. After discussion of the nighttime noise standard and the proposed clarification removing the term “prohibited,” the commission unanimously recommended a CEQA common-sense exemption and voted 6–1 to recommend that the City Council adopt the amendment. A motion to continue the item for further staff revisions failed. Staff said drive-through noise standards would be brought forward later as a separate amendment. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified.
The commission also unanimously approved its 2027 meeting schedule. Other agenda items included approval of prior meeting minutes, a planning-division staff-approvals report, and a request for a future informational overview of urgency ordinances.
