The Revere Planning Board meeting on September 29, 2026, voted to recommend that the City Council lay out parcel A1 at Overlook Ridge Drive as a public way. The proposed roadway work would relocate the development entrance on Salem Street and add signalization, turn lanes, roadway widening, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, and MBTA bus stops. The applicant said a $4 million MassWorks grant would fund the improvements, which are required to support 617 additional residential units and approximately 10,000 square feet of commercial space; the presenter stated that no city funds would be needed. The board’s recommendation is not final acceptance of the road, and the City Council was scheduled to consider the layout on October 26. A later phase involving new Route 1 ramps would require separate permitting and additional funding, with timing uncertain.

The board also voted to recommend deleting Section 17-1648A in its entirety, removing the 500-foot separation requirement for body-art establishments from schools, playgrounds, and houses of worship. The change is intended to make it feasible for such businesses to obtain certificates of occupancy in permitted commercial districts. No contract awards, vendor selections, or purchasing actions were identified. The board also discussed adding conditions to the minutes of a prior development review at 1290 North Shore Road, including soundproofing, traffic and station access, occupancy requirements, and mechanical details.
