The City of Socorro City Council’s regular meeting on October 1, 2026, approved several transportation-related spending and procurement actions. Council updated a TxDOT advanced funding agreement resolution for the Socorro Microtransit Vehicles Project, removing the original four-vehicle limit so the city can use available funds to purchase an estimated five to six vehicles. It also approved a $44,712.72 supplemental agreement with Camacho Hernandez and Associates LLC under Contract No. 22-07-01, Work Authorization No. 5, for additional topographic and survey work on the TA23 Socorro Active Transportation Phase 1 project. The added cost will be funded through 2026 certificates of obligation, not the grant budget.

Council also ratified the city’s purchase of a used 2016 Caterpillar AP1055F asphalt paver from Wagner Equipment for $96,221.09, using 2026 certificates of obligation and the city’s cooperative purchasing process through BuyBoard. Staff said the purchase allowed paving work to continue ahead of an ARPA project deadline and avoided the approximately $600,000 cost of a new paver. Separately, council approved updates to the city’s Title VI nondiscrimination policy to meet TxDOT and federal transit funding requirements. The proposed resolution supporting creation of the Socorro Business Association was deleted after executive-session discussion. Council also approved zoning actions for residential development; no other procurement awards or dollar amounts were identified.
