At the September 28, 2026 Clayton County Board of Education work session/regular meeting, the board approved the superintendent’s recommendation not to renew the arena management agreement with Right Productions Inc. (TRP Now) for the Arena at Southlake when the current term ends June 30, 2027, and to transition to district-managed operations. The vote was 6 in favor, 2 opposed, and 1 abstention. Discussion covered the district’s ongoing costs, oversight and revenue prospects, TRP’s account of its staffing and event work, and district proposals for managing marketing, concessions, sponsorships and bookings internally. TRP said it was not seeking additional district funding for 2027; district staff cited fiscal oversight and operational control as reasons for the proposed transition.

The board also approved a $45 million tax anticipation note to bridge cash flow until property-tax receipts arrive, with repayment scheduled for December 30, 2026. Regions Bank submitted the lowest bid at a 3.63% interest rate; the estimated net fiscal cost, including interest and legal expenses less projected investment earnings, was $56,025. The September SPLOST update reported $12.6 million in payments and no change orders, alongside updates on active facility projects and upcoming procurement for Terrell Elementary work. The purchasing report included purchases of $10,000 or more, including sole-source technology licenses and nursing staffing services; staff offered to provide supporting documentation. No separate new contract award was identified in that report.
