The City of Lonoke held a council meeting on September 14, 2026, which included several procurement and budget-related discussions. The council conducted a public hearing and subsequently approved Ordinance 840, authorizing the issuance and sale of a $572,880 capital improvement water and sewer revenue bond to finance water and sewer system improvements. Additionally, the council approved a change order for the community center showers at $17,745 and authorized repairs to a fire department truck costing $11,953.49, as well as the purchase of five sets of firefighter turnout gear totaling $34,695.20. Public works requested $8,555.88 for repairs to water plant pumps and electrical panels, which was approved. The council also approved up to $4,000 for repairs to a street department dump truck. A motion was passed to open a fifth jailer position in the police department. The council discussed but tabled a memorandum of agreement with the Department of Homeland Security related to a task force model. Lastly, Ordinance 841 was adopted to annex certain lands into the city and zone them C2. There was also preliminary discussion about potentially purchasing iPads for council members to reduce paper usage, with further price research planned.
