Traffic Council - July 1, 2026

The NewTV Government Traffic Council held a meeting on July 1, 2026, primarily focused on adopting a series of special speed regulations for various streets throughout the city. The council reviewed and voted unanimously to approve multiple speed regulation proposals submitted by the Director of the Department of Public Works (DPW) Transportation Division and the Traffic Council Chair. These approvals will be forwarded to MassDOT for final signature. Additionally, the council discussed and approved a long-term trial to allow temporary changes to parking and traffic regulations near the Newtonville MBTA commuter rail station to facilitate its upcoming reconstruction project. The trial will enable quick adjustments to parking and bus stop locations during construction, with all temporary changes reverting after project completion. Several other items related to removing or adjusting existing speed limits were also voted on with no further action necessary.
