The Revere School Committee's Buildings & Grounds Subcommittee met on September 4, 2026, to discuss several facilities and parking-related issues across the school district. A significant portion of the meeting focused on parking lot usage policies, including the approval of uniform parking restrictions limiting parking to school staff and visitors from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on school days, with general parking allowed from 6 p.m. to midnight. The subcommittee recommended updated signage to enforce these rules and discussed the legal authority of the school committee over school grounds parking. They also addressed challenges related to traffic flow and emergency vehicle access at certain schools, as well as concerns about motorized vehicle safety on pedestrian pathways. Facilities updates included ongoing projects such as LED lighting upgrades, elevator renovations expected to complete by summer 2027, and a roof repair application for Lincoln School. The committee also discussed the recent Beachmont mural project as an example of school property improvements requiring school committee approval due to grant funding. Motions were passed recommending the parking policy and signage updates to the full school committee for approval.
