08.28.2026 Independent Referendum Oversight Committee (IROC) Meeting

The School District of Palm Beach County's Independent Referendum Oversight Committee (IROC) held a meeting on August 28, 2026, to review the fourth and final quarterly report for fiscal year 2026 regarding the referendum funds. The committee discussed the total revenue collected of $360 million, including district and charter school shares, and noted that the district portion had no carryover funds going into 2028 due to spending on one-time initiatives such as school police radios. Charter schools, however, carried over $9.7 million. The funds were primarily allocated to teacher pay supplements, fine arts and career academy teachers, mental health, and school security. The committee also endorsed placing a renewal of the one-mill referendum on the November 3 ballot to continue funding, which would otherwise result in a $400 million budget loss.
