The Millcreek Township Planning Commission held a meeting on September 1, 2026, to discuss several land use and zoning matters. Key procurement-related topics included subdivision plans for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish Charitable Trust and T Force Freight Inc., both of which were approved with conditions such as updated lot dimensions and deed consolidations. The commission also reviewed a rezoning request by Joseph Herbert to change a 3.2-acre property from R2 low-density residential to MU2 corridor mixed use, intended for senior living development. This proposal generated significant public concern regarding neighborhood impact, traffic, and property values. The commission discussed potential zoning compromises, including retaining part of the parcel as residential. Additionally, a conditional use permit for signage in the Gateway District was approved, despite concerns over high permit fees. Finally, the commission recommended approval of proposed zoning ordinance amendments to regulate data centers, transitional dwellings, and significant tobacco retailers, with added performance standards and conditional use requirements. These recommendations will be forwarded to the Township Supervisors for final decisions at upcoming meetings.
