License and Variance Board Meeting

The City of Smyrna, Georgia License and Variance Board held a public meeting on August 12, 2026, to consider a variance request (V26-072) to reduce the southern side setback from 12 feet to 10.5 feet for a property located at 3928 Cloudland Drive in the Bennett Woods subdivision. The applicant proposed renovations including interior remodeling, a front porch addition, and a garage addition. Staff recommended approval with the condition that the project comply substantially with the submitted site plan and elevation. Concerns were raised by a neighboring property owner regarding increased impervious surface area and potential runoff issues, but the board noted the property is served by sanitary sewer and not septic. After public comments, the board voted to approve the variance request. The meeting also included approval of the minutes from the July 22, 2026 meeting and was adjourned thereafter.
