The Groton Town Council held a regular meeting on August 4, 2026, during which several procurement and budget-related matters were addressed. The council approved multiple grant acceptances, including a $141,791 Community Connectivity Grant for the Groton Crosstown Greenway project, a $50,000 T-Mobile Hometown Grant for the Board of Education, a $100,000 USDA Farm to School Implementation Grant, a $191,030 Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection grant for Groton Public Schools, and a $250,000 Climate Resilience Fund grant for the Aquatic Bridge Neighborhood Resilience Hub Planning Project. Additionally, the council authorized the reallocation of $200,000 in ARPA funds to cover bid overruns and contingencies for the Sutton Park revitalization project. All motions related to spending and procurement were passed unanimously or with minimal abstentions, and several items were referred to the Representative Town Meeting for further consideration. The meeting also included recognitions of retiring police department personnel and updates on local infrastructure projects.
