Pope County Committee Meeting - May 5th, 2026

The Pope County Quorum Court held a budget committee meeting on May 5, 2026, where several procurement and budget-related items were discussed and approved. The County Treasurer presented the financial report, highlighting sales and use tax revenues, property tax collections, and recent capital expenditures including a $1.54 million property purchase from Arkansas Tech. The committee approved a capital project for an asphalt overlay of the Hector library parking lot. The EMS department requested and received approval for a $75,000 allocation to participate in a state program aimed at recovering Medicaid shortfalls. The Courthouse Security Department proposed reallocating funds from a full-time deputy position to part-time deputies to better manage staffing needs without additional budget increases. Additionally, the OEM department received approval to transfer a $14,000 mitigation grant to purchase a new generator and to reallocate funds for outfitting a new vehicle. Several other smaller budget transfers and refunds were also approved during the meeting.
