The City of Joliet Zoning Board of Appeals held a meeting on July 16, 2026, to consider several zoning petitions involving variations of use and special use permits. Key procurement-related discussions included a variation of use request by the United Cerebral Palsy Center for Disability Services to allow administrative offices within an existing residential structure at 317 South Reed Street. The board recommended approval with conditions to maintain the residential character and limit the use to administrative functions. Another special use permit was considered for a resale boutique at 124 North Ottawa Street, with the board recommending approval to the city council. Additionally, a special use permit was reviewed for a truck repair facility at 608 Railroad Street, with the board also recommending approval. Each of these items will proceed to the city council for final decisions. The meeting also included the election of a new chair for the board and approval of previous meeting minutes.
