Public Forum & Legislative Meeting - July 13, 2026

The Albany County Legislature held a public forum and legislative meeting on July 13, 2026. The public forum featured multiple speakers, primarily from the Albany County Public Defender's Office, who advocated for union recognition encompassing both attorneys and support staff to address retention and workplace conditions. Several community members also spoke on local development and historic preservation initiatives. During the legislative session, the legislature approved numerous procurement-related resolutions, including agreements for energy performance contracts with Siemens Industry, billing and software services with Superior Back Office Solutions and Cantata Health Solutions, opioid settlement funding agreements with multiple organizations, and equipment purchases such as cardiac monitor defibrillators from Stryker Sales and an audio-visual system upgrade for the Emergency Operations Center. Additionally, the legislature authorized conveyance and release of real property parcels and approved general construction services for the MVP Arena loading dock renovation project.
