Housing Authority Special Council meeting

The City of Port Hueneme Housing Authority held a special council meeting on July 30, 2024, to discuss the Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD) program applications for two housing projects: Mar Vista and Willow Brook. The meeting focused on separating the applications to qualify as a very small Housing Authority category, which is expected to streamline and reduce costs for the RAD conversion process. The council reviewed financial projections indicating that the Willow Brook project would generate approximately $1.2 million in gross income annually, a significant change from the current break-even status with no revenue. The funds generated are intended to be reinvested into property maintenance and resident services, as HUD funding for public housing is decreasing. The council adopted two resolutions approving the financing plan and authorizing submission of the RAD Section 18 disposition application to HUD, enabling the projects to move forward under the new structure.
