The Eastpointe City Council held a regular meeting on July 7, 2026, where several procurement and contract-related matters were addressed. The council approved Amendment Number Five to the water service contract with the Great Lakes Water Authority, extending the contract to continue ongoing projects. They also approved a six-month extension of the contract with Anderson, Eckstein and Westrick (AEW) to maintain progress on infrastructure projects, including roads and architectural services for the new police and court building. Additionally, the council approved a $10 million bond issue for the police and court building, with a favorable interest rate structure. Other procurement actions included renewing workers' compensation third-party administration services and general liability insurance with the Michigan Municipal Risk Management Authority. The council also approved participation in the 2027-2029 urban county Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and adopted a resolution for committed fund balance assignments as required by accounting standards. A presentation by AEW on the final phase of the Nine Mile Road reconstruction was requested for a future meeting. The meeting included community updates on parks and recreation events, ongoing capital projects such as the splash pad and basketball courts, and public comments on various city issues. No new contracts were awarded during the meeting, but several contract extensions and budget-related resolutions were passed to support ongoing city infrastructure and service projects.
