The City of Cheyenne Finance Committee met on July 7, 2026, to discuss several procurement and budget-related items. Key actions included approving a $150,000 pledge from the nonprofit Bormac for safe routes to school improvements, and authorizing a $4,521.64 monthly lease payment for 50 years to support a 184-unit affordable housing project on city-owned land. The committee also approved a new firefighters' labor contract with salary increases and operational changes, despite some ongoing disputes. Additionally, the committee approved a $92,180 grant from the Wyoming Office of Homeland Security for personnel training and travel. Several capital improvement contracts were awarded: Simon Contractors received contracts for the Dell Range overlay project ($1,260,052) and the 2026 city overlay number one project ($1,838,275), Miller and Sons Construction was awarded the city overlay number two project contract ($1,877,787), and Legacy Construction Group was considered for a $314,950 erosion mitigation project, which was postponed for further negotiation due to potential cost increases from Union Pacific Railroad requirements. The committee also approved a $15,000 memorandum of understanding for use of city land during the Cheyenne Frontier Days event. All motions related to spending and contracts were passed unanimously or without opposition, with some items deferred for additional review.
