The City of Redmond Planning and Public Works Committee of the Whole met on July 7, 2026, to discuss several key procurement and capital improvement projects. The committee reviewed the 2026-27 annual comprehensive plan amendment docket, which includes city-initiated updates to stormwater systems, manufacturing and business park zoning, neighborhood planning, and transportation elements. The council agreed to place these items on the August 3 consent agenda. They also discussed amendments to the noise standards in the municipal code, including provisions for shooting sports facilities and noise mitigation agreements, with an ongoing SEPA appeal delaying final adoption. The committee approved moving forward with a $2.4 million sole source contract with Technical Systems Inc. for phase four of the control systems and telemetry upgrade project, funded through water and wastewater CIP budgets. Additionally, they concurred on the final contract acceptance for the Grass Lawn multi-use field and Hartman Park baseball field synthetic turf replacement project, which came in under budget. The council awarded a $1.32 million construction contract to Earthworks Solutions for the Willows Road water main extension and approved a $264,000 funding increase due to deeper installation requirements. Lastly, the committee received a 60% design update on the 156th shared use path project, noting the removal of 139 trees with mitigation plans, and discussed tree preservation efforts. The meeting concluded with thanks to outgoing Director Burt for his service.
