The City of Morganton held its regular City Council meeting on June 1, 2026, where several procurement and budget-related matters were discussed. The council approved multiple contract awards including a $178,350 contract to Perkinson Company for actuator replacements and a $46,586.40 contract to Charles R. Underwood for air release valve installations at the water treatment plant. They also approved an annual tree trimming contract with Davy Tree Company not to exceed $285,000. Additionally, the council authorized a budget amendment recognizing $424,974 from the sale of 112 West Union Street and transferring those proceeds to the capital reserve fund, as well as a $150,000 budget amendment transferring CDBG funds to the general fund for storm drain project costs.
