6-9-26 Planning Commission

The City of Holland Planning Commission held a meeting on June 9, 2026, where they reviewed and approved site plans and special land use requests for two new gas stations: a Casey's at 636 East 24th Street and a Meijer gas station. Both projects included traffic impact studies and incorporated conditions such as limiting certain driveways to right-in/right-out access to improve safety and traffic flow. The commission discussed future road expansions and coordination with adjacent properties to accommodate increased traffic. Additionally, the commission reviewed a proposal for a new 83,000 square foot recreation center adjacent to Bowes Pool, highlighting parking arrangements, stormwater management, and community benefits. The meeting also included updates on zoning ordinance amendments related to battery storage and essential services, which were forwarded to the city council for approval. Motions to approve the gas station site plans with conditions and to forward zoning amendments were passed unanimously.
