The Madera County Board of Supervisors held a regular meeting on June 16, 2026, during which several procurement and budget-related items were discussed and approved. Key procurement actions included approval of a contract with the California Department of Health Care Services for medical inmate program services effective July 1, 2026. The board also approved a resolution for a franchise collection rate increase related to solid waste services and authorized the issuance and sale of a $3 million grant anticipation note for the construction of a new well and pipeline project in Maintenance District 19 Parkwood. Additionally, the board reviewed and accepted an investment grade audit for countywide energy projects, recommending moving forward with approximately $3.9 million in solar photovoltaic projects through a sole source agreement with Southland Industries under Government Code 4217 to leverage tax credits and expedite completion by the end of the calendar year. The remaining energy projects, including HVAC modernization, were to be re-evaluated later based on funding availability. The board also adopted a telephonic and internet service disruption policy for meetings and approved a Behavioral Health Services Act three-year integration plan for fiscal years 2026-2029, including budget allocations and funding strategies. Other budget actions included approval of property tax administration fees and special compensation for a deputy director in Public Works. The board voted to place a measure on the November 2026 ballot to increase the transient occupancy tax from 9% to 11% to support public safety and county services. Several presentations and recognitions were also part of the meeting, but the primary procurement focus was on contract approvals, budget allocations, and capital improvement projects.
