The City of Reno held a City Council and Redevelopment Agency Board meeting on June 3, 2026. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to honoring Carrie Koski, the retiring Director of Public Works and City Engineer, for her over 22 years of service and leadership in advancing major infrastructure projects such as the Virginia Street Bridge and Public Safety Center. The Council then addressed procurement-related matters including a resolution of intent to sell city-owned property to the Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) for $1.35 million to expand the 4th Street bus station, aimed at improving transit operations and future flexibility. The sale followed a multi-year process involving tenant eviction and appraisal. Additionally, the Council approved a special assessment district (SAD) for infrastructure improvements in the Talus Valley area, allowing property owners to finance public infrastructure through assessments. Discussions also touched on potential process improvements for handling unsolicited proposals and public transparency in property transactions. Public comments included concerns about leasing public spaces and community safety issues. The Redevelopment Agency Board discussed reviewing the placemaking study to prioritize activation of public spaces and potential use of RDA funds. No votes were taken on the Eddy proposal to lease Believe Plaza, which was not on the agenda.
