11-13-24 Planning Commission Meeting

The Baldwin Park Planning Commission held a regular meeting on November 13, 2024, during which they reviewed and approved a conditional use permit for the installation of a new 60-foot mono eucalyptus wireless communication facility by Butler America Telecom on behalf of Verizon Wireless. The project, located at 5124 Hein Street in an industrial zone, includes a 460 square foot equipment enclosure with cabinets, a fiber cable enclosure, and a 30 KW emergency diesel generator with a 168-gallon fuel tank. The Commission discussed safety and environmental concerns related to the generator and electromagnetic emissions, with assurances provided that the project complies with all relevant regulations and standards. The permit was approved unanimously, and the project was found exempt from further environmental review under the California Environmental Quality Act. Additionally, the Commission received updates on the recruitment process for a fifth commissioner seat to be presented to the City Council in January.
