The Maverick County Commissioners Court held a special meeting on May 5, 2025, where several procurement and budget-related matters were addressed. The court approved the acceptance of a bid from RNR Utility Construction LLC for the Kamala project at $222,657.50. They also approved a resolution adopting the 2025 Hazardous Mitigation Plan and authorized a memorandum of understanding with Motivational Education and Training to support migrant seasonal farm workers. Pest control service payments totaling $310 were approved, along with air conditioning maintenance for the probation office. The court authorized payment for electrical work related to a concession stand and approved opening a bank account for a motor vehicle crime prevention grant. A salary increase for a district attorney's office employee was discussed but deferred pending funding clarification. The Sheriff's Office was authorized to renew participation in the Law Enforcement Support Office program for surplus military equipment. Additionally, the court approved a Texas Parks and Wildlife co-op grant of $51,381 for a summer camp project benefiting local youth, and authorized submission of a grant application for the 2026 motor vehicle crime prevention authority. The purchase of five new computers for the County Clerk's Office was proposed but later withdrawn. The court also approved hosting a countywide back-to-school event and various budget amendments for fiscal year 2025. Several contract renewals and negotiations were discussed in executive session. Motions related to these procurement and budget items were unanimously approved by the commissioners.
