HRA/EDA Meeting - April 20th, 2026

The City of Richfield held a joint meeting of its Housing and Redevelopment Authority (HRA) and Economic Development Authority (EDA) on April 20, 2026. The HRA conducted a public hearing and approved the sale of the property at 6326 14th Avenue South to Dereje Demessie and Beza Geberhawot for private development of a new two-family home under the Richfield Rediscovered program. The lot was sold for $81,500, a reduced price reflecting the project's alignment with HRA goals such as duplex construction, sound attenuation, and energy efficiency. The board also discussed concerns about site cleanup and neighborhood impact. The EDA approved a resolution supporting an application for Hennepin County Business District Initiative Program Grant Funds for wayfinding and placemaking projects in downtown Richfield. Additionally, the EDA reported on the launch of a Small Business Resiliency Fund to assist businesses affected by federal immigration operations, with outreach efforts underway. Both authorities approved claims and adjourned the meeting.
