The City of Homestead held a virtual community meeting on April 9, 2026, to discuss the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) funding. The meeting provided an overview of these programs, which support low-to-moderate income residents through housing, public services, infrastructure improvements, and economic development projects. The city reported receiving approximately $878,000 in CDBG funds for the current year and highlighted ongoing projects such as park improvements, youth STEM and swimming programs, and assistance to local nonprofits. The city is also developing a HOME-funded down payment assistance program to support affordable housing. Community members were encouraged to provide feedback and ask questions, which were addressed live. The city plans to finalize and submit its annual action plan for these programs to HUD after City Council approval, anticipated in July 2026.
