The City of Lake Forest Park Tree Board convened on June 3, 2026, primarily to discuss urban forestry management issues including tree permits, canopy replacement, and the upcoming roundabout construction project at 104th and Northeast 184th. A significant portion of the meeting focused on the removal of trees due to the roundabout project, the requirements for canopy replacement on city property, and the selection of appropriate native tree species for replanting. The board also addressed the addition of a stream buffer layer to a King Conservation District (KCD) mapping project, recommending the city allocate $500 of dedicated KCD funds for this purpose. Due to a lack of quorum for much of the meeting, formal decisions were limited, but a motion to recommend adding the stream buffer layer was passed unanimously. Discussions also covered community outreach efforts such as tree giveaways, invasive species management (notably holly and ivy), and volunteer coordination for ivy removal. The board planned to continue deliberations on tree species selection and permit policies in future meetings, with individual members encouraged to provide input via email.
