Concord Board of Education Instructional Committee | 4-13-26

The Concord School District Instructional Committee met on April 13, 2026, to discuss and recommend the adoption of new instructional programs for English Language Arts (ELA) and mathematics. After a rigorous selection and pilot process involving multiple stakeholders, the committee recommended adopting the "My View/My Perspectives" ELA program and the Carnegie Math program. Both programs emphasize comprehensive, research-based instruction aligned with the science of reading and include embedded professional development and digital platforms to support student progress. The committee reviewed costs, professional development plans, and supplemental materials, noting that professional development funding would be sought through Title II funds. Additionally, the committee discussed projected open enrollment opportunities at the high school level, focusing on available seats in upper-level courses and the need to establish a district open enrollment policy by June 30, 2026. The committee recommended a zero in/zero out open enrollment policy with a possible carve-out for the Cooperative Regional Technical Center (CRTC) program, to be further developed by the policy committee. Both program adoptions and the open enrollment policy recommendation were approved to move forward to the full school board for final consideration.
