The Kitsap County Parks Advisory Board held a regular meeting on November 20, 2025, focusing primarily on forest stewardship and restoration planning, funding strategies, and capital projects within county parks. A significant portion of the meeting was dedicated to discussing updates to the Forest Stewardship and Restoration Policy and Strategic Plan, including a shift in funding from a special fund to the general fund to ensure long-term sustainability. The board approved moving these documents forward to the Board of County Commissioners for final approval. Additionally, the board reviewed procurement activities related to the Gordon Park master plan, noting a strong response to the recent Request for Qualifications (RFQ) with 15 submissions, and anticipated contracting to begin in early 2026. Updates were also provided on capital improvement projects nearing completion, such as the North Beach berm landscaping and the North Gateway trailhead at Port Gamble, as well as an upcoming deck replacement project. Public comments addressed concerns about forest thinning methods, equipment used, and the need for detailed park-level planning and community engagement. The meeting concluded with the election of new chair and vice-chair effective January 2026 and adjournment without scheduled meetings in December.
