The City of Lawrence, Indiana's Fort Harrison Reuse Authority held a 2025 year-in-review meeting highlighting significant redevelopment progress on the former military base. Key procurement and investment activities included a $20 million bond issuance to support new housing, retail, dining, and public parking projects at Fort Ben. Construction began on The Corner at 56th Street and Lee Road, a $6.2 million commercial development led by local business Foamcraft, featuring nearly 12,000 square feet of retail and a 4,000 square foot restaurant. Residential expansion continued with The Towns at Fort Harrison by Davis Homes. The Authority also acquired strategic parcels to control future development and community amenities, with construction planned for 2026. Additionally, the Authority completed over 100 architectural reviews since 2022 to ensure alignment with design standards and responsibly managed TIF revenues. The meeting underscored the Authority's role in fostering public-private partnerships and community engagement to sustain Fort Harrison's successful transformation from a military base to a vibrant civilian community.
