The Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission held a meeting on April 15, 2026, to consider two related rezoning and planned development applications within the Commercial-Commercial Health District. The first application proposed rezoning a 1.43-acre parcel to allow a Circle K gas station with fuel sales, a use not currently permitted in the district, which is primarily intended for medical and health-related services. The second application sought approval for a car wash on an adjacent 0.98-acre parcel. Both projects included plans for shared ingress and egress and the installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Mosquite Avenue and Riviera Drive, to be funded by the developer. Public testimony raised concerns about traffic congestion, the appropriateness of a gas station and car wash in a medical district, potential environmental impacts, and the preservation of the district's medical character. After discussion, the commission voted unanimously to recommend denial of both applications to the City Council, citing zoning incompatibility and traffic concerns. The meeting also included updates on the general plan review process and announcements about future meetings.
