Quivira Road, 143rd St. to 151st St. Improvement Project Public Meeting

The City of Olathe, KS held a public meeting on April 16, 2026, to discuss the upcoming Quivira Road Improvement Project from 143rd Street to 151st Street. The project involves reconstructing the existing two-lane undivided road into a two-lane divided arterial road with medians, turn lanes, a roundabout at 148th Street, enclosed storm sewer systems, street lighting, and sidewalks on both sides. Macini Construction was selected as the general contractor for the project. The meeting covered the project schedule, phased construction approach, traffic detours, and access maintenance for residents during construction. Phase one will run from April to August 2026, followed by phase two from August 2026 to January 2027, with final completion expected in February 2027. The city emphasized maintaining local access and coordinating with utility companies and neighboring jurisdictions to minimize disruptions.
