State of the City 2026

The City of Pompano Beach held its 2026 State of the City luncheon on March 27, 2026, featuring Mayor Rex Harden and various city and community leaders. The meeting highlighted significant economic development and infrastructure projects, including the transformation of the beachfront into the Pompano Beach Fishing Village, which has generated over $61 million in increased property values and created more than 500 permanent jobs. The city has invested approximately $180 million in over 25 priority projects through the Geo Pompano initiative, improving parks, streets, utilities, and public safety infrastructure. Public safety enhancements include advanced surveillance technology and investments in fire and lifeguard stations. The city also emphasized its strong fiscal management with 14 consecutive years of no audit findings. Economic development efforts focus on attracting private investment, expanding the commercial tax base, and creating a new downtown area to generate jobs and support city services. Additionally, the city is addressing social challenges through programs targeting homelessness, affordable housing, and workforce development. Cultural and educational initiatives, such as the new Hive Blackbox Theater and marine science programs, were also discussed. The meeting underscored ongoing and future capital improvement projects and public-private partnerships that support sustainable growth and community well-being in Pompano Beach.
