The City of Foster City held a Fair Housing Workshop on September 24, 2025, featuring a presentation by Adrian Solis from Project Sentinel, a fair housing agency. The workshop focused on educating tenants and landlords about fair housing laws, including federal and California-specific protected classes, reasonable accommodations for disabilities, source of income protections, and anti-discrimination practices. Project Sentinel also discussed their services such as housing discrimination investigations, counseling, and mediation, although mediation services for San Mateo County tenants were noted as currently unfunded. The workshop included detailed explanations of housing rights related to disability, familial status, gender, national origin, immigration status, criminal records, and licensed childcare providers. Attendees were encouraged to document discrimination and utilize Project Sentinel's resources for assistance. The city plans to continue annual fair housing trainings and expand outreach in partnership with other organizations in 2026.
