Inside City Hall: Civic Awareness Academy Episode 13

The City of Madison hosted an episode of the Civic Awareness Academy (CIA), a six-week program designed to educate residents about the inner workings of city government. The program offers participants a behind-the-scenes look at various city departments, including finance, public works, police, fire, and parks, through presentations and tours of city facilities. The goal is to increase civic engagement by informing residents about how decisions are made, how services are delivered, and encouraging participation in boards, commissions, and local elections. The program has successfully inspired graduates to run for city council and serve on commissions, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of municipal operations. Applications for the upcoming session are open until August 29th, with a cap of 30 participants to ensure an interactive experience.
