The City of Coppell Planning and Zoning Commission convened on December 18, 2025, to discuss zoning and development matters, including a proposal to convert part of a clubhouse into a residential unit at the Mansions by the Lake apartment complex and a request to amend zoning for the Lost Creek live work development. The Mansions by the Lake conversion was approved unanimously, allowing a 1,132 square foot residential unit without changing parking requirements. The Lost Creek live work project sought to allow single-family residential use in addition to live work uses, but staff recommended denial due to concerns about maintaining the historic district's commercial mixed-use vision. After extensive discussion about market challenges and zoning enforcement, the commission voted to table the Lost Creek proposal to allow further dialogue and refinement of home-based work definitions, aiming to balance economic realities with the city's comprehensive plan and historic district goals. The commission also discussed the upcoming comprehensive master plan update and scheduling for future meetings.
