The City of Oxnard's Public Works and Transportation Committee reviewed and recommended approval of a five-year agreement with Badger Meter, Inc. for the Beacon Software as a Service (SaaS) to support the city's advanced meter infrastructure (AMI) project. This project, initiated in 2021, involved replacing approximately 43,000 water meters and installing cellular read endpoints to automate monthly meter readings, replacing a failing radio read system. The Beacon software provides customers with access to water usage data and leak notifications, helping prevent water waste and high bills. The contract, not to exceed $1,627,436.40 over five years, will be funded through the water operating budget and annual budget processes.
