City of San Angelo
July 06, 2025
State & Local
The City of San Angelo held a press conference on July 7, 2025, to address the recent flood disaster and ongoing relief efforts. Officials detailed the disaster declarations filed at city and county levels and emphasized the importance of residents registering their damages through a state-provided survey to facilitate state and federal recovery aid. The city is coordinating damage assessments with teams photographing affected properties and training nonprofit and government organizations to assist in this process. Financial assistance is being channeled through the St. Angelo Area Foundation, and a disaster resource center has been established to support affected citizens. Public works reported preliminary expenditures of approximately $525,000 for labor and equipment related to debris removal, with a contract for monitoring debris removal set not to exceed $350,000. Debris collection is scheduled to begin in the most affected areas on July 21, with an estimated cleanup duration of 90 to 120 days. Trash and bulk waste services have been adjusted to accommodate disaster recovery operations. The coordinated response involved multiple agencies, including local police, fire departments, Texas Task Force One, and volunteer groups, with over 1,500 emergency calls handled and numerous life-saving rescues conducted. Officials also discussed ongoing efforts to secure a potential presidential disaster declaration and encouraged community donations and volunteer support to aid recovery.
