Measure O: The Visalia Cannabis Tax Authorization for Maintenance of Essential Services

The City of Visalia discussed Measure O, a proposed tax on cannabis businesses that would impose up to a 10% tax on gross profits or up to $10 per square foot of cultivation space. The revenue generated from this tax is intended to fund essential community services including public safety, emergency response, homelessness initiatives, and maintenance of public spaces. Although there are currently no cannabis businesses in Visalia, the measure would apply to any medicinal cannabis businesses that may open under state law, as well as any future state mandates requiring such taxation.
