The Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools Board held a workshop and special meeting on November 5, 2026. The main funding discussion reviewed a projected $6.56 million deficit in FY2029 and levy options. Board members expressed support for developing a resolution for a 1.5% earned-income levy, but took no vote on the levy; the administration was asked to prepare a proposal for a future board agenda. Further discussion was scheduled for the Finance and Facilities meeting on November 17, with potential board action on November 19. The district also outlined immediate cost controls for its state recovery plan, including reduced technology purchases, freezes on purchased services and supplies/materials, and staffing and program reductions.

The technology director reported that student device repairs are now handled in-house for one-to-one devices, while an external vendor primarily handles cart devices and other cases; average repair time reportedly fell from about 30 days to six. The director said a contract proposal for a one-month free trial of Chrome Clock would be brought to the next regular board meeting; it was not approved at this meeting. Other workshop topics included updates to middle- and high-school programs of study, including a planned AI engineering course, and special-education services. No contract award, RFP, or procurement vote was identified. The special meeting entered executive session for personnel matters, with no further action reported.
