🏗️ Construction & Infrastructure Grants & Funding

The City of Eastpointe Planning Commission met November 5, 2026. Consultants presented the final “people” pillar of the city’s economic development and placemaking strategy, proposing stronger business outreach, expanded small-business support, a citywide microgrant program, a neighborhood retail incubator, legacy-business assistance, and workforce-development partnerships. Commissioners raised concerns about the cost and identified potential funding sources, community partnerships, and examples from other cities; the consultants said the draft includes a funding scan and plans to submit it to city staff for review. These were strategic proposals, not approved funding allocations or procurement actions, and no contracts, bids, or purchases were considered.

The commission conditionally approved its 2027 meeting and submission-deadline calendar, subject to scheduling adjustments for community events. It also approved amendments to the draft vehicle ordinance, including revised timelines for addressing vehicle conditions and language allowing an appropriately maintained vehicle cover; the amended draft was directed to city administration for submission to City Council for initial review. The building department reported ongoing redevelopment discussions involving several properties, including potential demolition and brownfield cleanup, but no related awards or spending approvals were made.
