At its November 5, 2026 meeting, the Prince Edward County Board of Supervisors approved several spending and procurement-related items. The board approved $98,611.93 from committed school capital-improvement funds for chiller invoices, FY27 school budget supplements and appropriations, and purchases and upfitting of two sheriff’s vehicles, including a $36,584 FY26 carryover. It also approved a revised landfill scale-house project with ADA access, reported at approximately $156,000—about $27,000 above the earlier estimate—after staff compared quotes from WillScot and Mobile Modular through Sourcewell. The county administrator reported that Prince Edward County Public Schools approved a $3.2 million amendment to its English Construction contract for auditorium renovations; the county had previously reappropriated $2.16 million for the project. The board also authorized a December public hearing on an ordinance to impose the additional 1% school sales and use tax approved by voters, with May 1, 2027 identified as the earliest possible effective date.
Other project and funding updates included approximately $1.35 million in economic-development grants awarded during the year and a pending business-park site-characterization grant of up to $500,000. Public safety reported grant-funded equipment and projects, including an air trailer for which the county contributed $6,700, a $70,000 PPE grant, an $18,000 particulate-hood grant, and progress on a Motorola-supported radio-system project. The board approved H2H Emergency Services to provide advanced-life-support ambulance transport in the county. The IDA’s amendment to the AIO data-center option agreement, extending it through December 31, 2030 and making the power application transferable, was reported as approved by the IDA; the county said it is developing supplementary zoning regulations. Public comments raised concerns about the proposed data-center project’s environmental, health, and safety impacts and the route of its wastewater main. No county contract award to AIO was reported at this meeting.
