The City of Santa Barbara Historic Landmarks Commission met on November 4, 2026. The commission unanimously recommended that the City Council rename Ambassador Park to Shutun Park, recognizing the site’s Chumash cultural significance; no final action on the park improvements was taken, and a separate concept review was scheduled for a later meeting. The commission also approved project design for the proposed performance hall and related work at 901 State Street, the restoration and residential conversion at 1315 State Street, and the adaptive reuse and rooftop improvements at Paseo Nuevo. The Paseo Nuevo approval was directed to return on consent for final review, subject to design refinements. These land-use and design-review decisions did not include contract awards, purchasing, or other procurement activity.

The commission reviewed a proposed second-story ADU over a garage, pool, and related work at a historic property; this was concept review only, with no final action. Commissioners requested more information on site context, privacy, landscaping, massing, and compatibility with the historic adobe and neighboring homes. The meeting also included approval of the October 21 minutes and brief updates on other local projects. No procurement-related spending or vendor selections were identified.
