The Kennewick School District Board of Directors’ regular meeting on November 4, 2026, included two major capital-project actions. The board voted 4–0 to authorize administration to negotiate a construction-management contract with the Winahall Group for upcoming safety and security levy-funded projects. The district said four firms responded to the RFP and three were interviewed. The board also approved Resolution No. 3 for a proposed $107 million general-obligation bond for school improvements and safety upgrades, with bonds allowed to mature within 22 years. Members said approval could enable approximately $61 million in additional state funding, for about $167 million in total project resources. The board appointed committees to prepare statements for and against the ballot proposition.
The board voted 4–0 to table Policy 2336, Ceremonies and Observances, for further revision after public comment raised concerns about omitted observances and the policy’s scope. Many speakers also urged district review and oversight of reported leadership, climate, program, and ASB/PTO-fund concerns at Fuerza Elementary; a board member said the matter was already being investigated. The district reported pilots of School Pulse at three schools and GoGuardian Beacon at three high schools to support student safety and early intervention; no related contract award or spending amount was identified.
