The Municipality of Anchorage held a work session on November 6, 2026, on the proposed FY 2027 budget and Assembly amendments. No votes were taken; members discussed draft proposals and requested follow-up information before the budget meeting. Capital amendments included advancing several park projects to 2027, increasing funding and broadening the scope of coastal-trail bluff stabilization (including a proposed $500,000 state request), and restoring a $5 million area-wide road pavement rehabilitation request. A proposal for Cuddy Park’s chalet sought $2 million toward an estimated $4.6 million project, with about $1 million already available. Members also discussed a proposal to replace recurring ambulance bond requests with an annual $3.345 million levy for ambulance funding and service-area providers, and a separate $580,000 proposal to provide People Mover service on seven additional holidays; cost, service, and labor details remain to be clarified.

Operating and other budget discussions included restoring the Assembly’s third attorney position in the substitute budget and creating a recurring reserve—about $150,000 annually—to help cover runoff elections and other one-time election costs. Other amendments proposed seasonal staff for invasive-species work, $65,000 for Anchorage Senior Center snow-removal expenses, and continued funding for downtown police foot patrols, with the administration seeking alternatives to using tourism project funds. Members also discussed proposed alcohol-tax reallocations and grants, including $75,000 for a firearm-safety program and an additional Recover Alaska proposal, as well as a parcel-data software concept. These remained proposals, with questions about funding sources, procurement approach, and implementation to be resolved; no contract awards or purchasing approvals were made.
