Anderson County Budget Committee meeting, November 5, 2026: The committee approved three contracts as a group—JD Auction, UniFirst highway uniforms, and a Lamar Tourism billboard—and approved a Pitney Bowes postage-machine lease amendment contingent on law director approval. It also approved a $89,635 no-match rural health grant for Health Department dental-clinic supplies and equipment, and a $136,054.12 appropriation for the Veterans Treatment Court grant. The judge reported a separate $950,000 federal award over four years to establish the program. The committee authorized a request for quotes for cleanup options at two Lake City properties, noting the work could substantially exceed the county’s annual $16,000 zoning-remediation budget. A proposed $12,571.43 county match for a Marlowe Fire Department grant was referred to the nonprofit committee rather than approved. A proposed Digital Ally body-camera purchase—three years, $260,684.88 total—was deferred to the next budget meeting for a fuller presentation and information on procurement options and terms.

The committee also discussed the existing Flock camera agreement, signed December 20, 2023, with about two years remaining; the law director outlined possible termination provisions, and the committee voted to continue the matter, with two members opposed. A Clexton Elementary surplus-property request was deferred for review of prior approvals. The committee advanced to the full commission a motion to set annual library contributions at $50,000 per municipality beginning July 1, 2027, shifting daily operations and staffing responsibility to the municipalities (and, subject to acceptance, the school system for Bryceville). Other approved budget actions included a $3,500 EMA disaster-animal-response grant, highway and detention-facility appropriations, and a transfer related to the second year of a Stryker Medical contract for 13 defibrillators, budgeted at about $254,000 annually. No final full-commission approval of the library proposal was reported.
